Tomorrows project: 10 tooth XX1 style pulley wheels.

That ought to bring some precision to the table, and allow a bit more clearance for a big cog.
Had my drawing guy make the footwork today.

Does it really need that much of a profile when the regular ones don't seem to need it?

This is what the CAD guy came up with, I intend to make it lower profile.
What he made, is the "ideal" sprocket, you know, by the book.

I simply couldn't be bothered to explain this, and thought it easier to just sort it on the fly ;)
The guy does medical implants for me on daily basis, this is a bit off the beaten path to him.

Shibi failed to locate the software. Therefore... Moar Forum time. (And more time to sabotage machines)

This never materialized, but our little yellow friends have made a version.
Has any of you tried one?

Where did you find that one? I thought that for optimum performance, the jockey wheels needed a bit of slop built in.

They are all over Fleabay.
Search for "12T pulley wheel bicycle".

I'm not so sure about the slop needed. Back 20 years ago I had a production of pulley wheels that were much tighter tolerances, and with less than standard bearing play. They were rather popular among people that had to earn money winning races.

I think it's a matter of that the rider needs to be better at shifting, but for most people here I'd say that's a non-issue.

Anyway, I've ordered a few, but as they come from the little yellow people, it takes like a month for them to get here.

The initial thought was that I'd make a new lower arm for my 9x2, to get a Dura Ace x3 system, so I was searching for 13T pulleys.
Now that I stumbled on those 12T, I think I'll make it a 12T upper, 13T lower.

I might give it a shot also, see if it improves in any way shifting on my bastard drivetrain (9sp shifter+RD / 10sp cassette). But, I like this simple design better for MTB applications, fewer holes to get filled with muck.

I've just received a couple of the 16T narrow-wide, and the 17T regular pulleys.

In short: Don't buy them, they're poorly made, even poorer constructed, the dust caps rubs due to huge bearing play.
.....and you guessed it: They have so much bearing play that the play of the pulley at the perimeter, is like half a gear spacing.
They didn't manage to make the narrow-wide fit a standard Shimano chain on the 16T.
On the 17T they made the chamfer so deep that the chain is flopping around.

Nice product, if it wasn't made so poorly, and if it worked :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

I've just returned mine.

Magura

Mine arrived today and isn't actually too bad. Perhaps you got a chinese knock-off of a chinese product?
I haven't installed it yet but the bearing looks fine and tight, the dust caps are OK, it came with two axle sleeves (thin and thick walled), but I haven't tried how it carries the chain, yet.

Does the narrow-wide fit both the inner and the outer plates of the chain?
On the one I got it was so far from fitting, that the narrow-wide was purely cosmetic.

Mine seems to be machined well, I cannot get the chain wrap around the wheel if I skip a link and try to force narrow link on wide tooth.

Does yours actually fit both inner and outer links, or are the wide parts just wide enough to not fit the narrow parts?
By fitting I mean, does the side of the teeth when pushed to one side inside the chain, actually all rest on the outer plates of the chain?

Yes they are. I cannot get the wide teeth fit into the narrow links.
