Until they come up with reasonably priced cassettes, there is no way I am spending thousands to get me one more extra gear. $399 is a deal breaker for me.

I don't get it, all the "one is all you need", "single-minded yadda yadda" talk and then they show shifters and a rear cassette with a shitload of cogs. Way too many gears to try and make that "one and only one" shit fly..

Considering that the engineering department is smoking weed during work hours, what makes you think the marketing department is any different?

I hear ya on the stupid price structure !!!

I blame the gotta have the newest/blinging/bragging factor people for such prices ... Imagine what they'll be demanding from the advertisement suckers for the Y01 ;) and the total lack of true innovation.

It's a freak'n sprocket set and shifters ... Once they figured out index shifting, all they could do is advertise BS changes.

Changing the BC dia. so they can sell new sprockets ... What next ?
BioPace III ?
A new standard in pedal thread diameter ?

If people ever become satisfied with what they ride ... Then we might see some real and enticing innovation, again.

Well XX1 is the top end bling and since it has no real competition, you could call the price justifiable. They must be selling tons of the XX1 kits. But X01 is introduced as a "more budget-conscious version". Really.

Fluck $$1, XO1, XTR etc.

Get rid of all metal cables. They need to work on hydraulic shifting.

Last I know of anything about that type of system.

as much trouble as people have bleeding their hydro brakes, i can't imagine how bad shifters would be, where it has to be really precise.

Nah, you can keep your hydro shifting and I'll keep my cables. I also prefer a cable actuated dropper post to one with a hydraulic remote. Hydraulic controls are nothing but troubles, especially when one crashes hard, breaks the line and gets oil spilled everywhere.
