I just discovered Tufo makes tubulars that goes on clincher rims

This is the best thing that happened lately, as now I get to use my clinchers anyway.
The best part?
They go for like $25 a pop.

Mounting the first was a bitch! The second was much easier, and after that it was like mounting any other tire.

I remember those tires being advertised back in the late 80s/early 90s. It'll be interesting to find out how they run as compared to either clinchers or tubulars.

As soon as I get out on the road Monday, I'll report back.
As far as I can tell, the weight is on par with ordinary tire-tube setups, and they feel like tubulars.
They seated nice and straight, just as straight as tubulars, and better than clinchers normally do.
Today disappeared in bubble shopping.....

The test mule is a Cannondale CAAD 3 Silk road.
Spinergy Spox wheels.
Tufo C S33 PRO 24 Tires.
Used to ride Michelin PRO3-23mm
The usual 110 PSI pressure

Had a family ride of some 55 km today, so thought it would make for a nice test.
They roll ridiculously well! Ridiculously!!!
When coasting I'd out-roll the others by a fair margin.
They stick like glue when cornering, very confidence inspiring.
In short: they feel like tubulars, but can be mounted in a couple of minutes.

Those tubular-clinchers are now the official club tire in "OFF".
I have a few clinchers, and never liked them much. That just changed.

Damn that is a nice bike! I don't know the Tufo guys personally but they are still Otrokovice, CZ as far as I know. That place has a long tradition of various industries.

Thanks Sti. I rather like that bike as well.
I soooo would like to replace the rims on the Spox wheels with proper carbon tubulars though. That would make for a very fast accelerating bike I think, not that it's a slug by any means as is.

It could be fun to get in touch with the Tufo guys, I have a couple of ideas for tires.
