Why wasn't there already a thread like this here?!

Anyway, I will start.

As I mentioned in another area of this website, I had a morning ride planned today after I dropped the kids off at school. Rode over to the Rose Bowl, did 3 laps, then rode back.

21.80 miles
1:27:33 moving time
14.0 mph av speed
33.3 mph max speed
1191' elevation gain
1560 calories

Then I went to work. With tired legs...

I'm a closet roadie as well, in fact MTB is practically just a winter thing these days.
Doing my 25-30km a day.

I didn't notice this thread....I'll check in more often.

Magura :)

Nice ride. I used to road ride but ever since Levi's Grand Fondo started every knuckle head with a bike clogs our roads now and it's dangerous. I do miss jumping on my bike and doing a quick 20 miles to stretch the legs. In a past life I used to train for this....https://triplebypass.org. I did it 6 years in a row with my son and his father-in-law.

The MTB was doing roadie duty today, as the weather was less than pleasant.

I got my roadie bike back into running condition. It had been at least one year since I rode it. New tires (set up tubeless), new chain, new saddle. Took it for a quicky 15 mile shake down ride yesterday. And, it was FUN!

While I don't have a gravel bike, but gravel rides even on an MTB could have a place here.

Cruisers are wannabee roadies, so yeah they count about 80%.

It's been too long since I posted here but since I have all but been transformed into a MBR for the time being, I felt the urge to roll with it this morning. So, I did.

And it was Grand! :D

I set off in perfect, partly cloudy skies with a temp of about 50F. I headed for the Rose Bowl with a stop at Cherry Canyon along the way. The Kona still rides like a dream even though it lives a neglected life here. I thought it was gonna beat the crap out of me today because my joints have been extra sensitive lately but I popped an arthritis pill and set off and had no issues. I snapped a shot of the rig parked up against the Cherry Canyon entrance and then I headed off toward the Rose Bowl. Along the way, I passed by a couple of hottie roadie gals who hooted at me as i passed by and said hi. They jumped on their bikes to chase me down and it was on! That was near the start of a long, fast DH where it's easy to exceed the speed limit (which I did). They never caught me and as I was blasting down the DH, I passed by a cop driving the other way and he gave me the stink eye and immediately slowed down and so did I. From there I rolled down to the bottom and dropped into the Arroyo. Did one lap around the Rose Bowl/golf course then pedaled up and out toward NASA JPL/Brown Mtn/El Prieto. The forest is still open here but I was shocked at how few cars were parked there. I rolled up the paved road (closed to motor vehicles) toward the trail heads. Along the way, I passed one of my riding buds and we stopped to chat for a few mins at a safe social distance. He had just finished up on El Prieto and he said it was in prime condition. From there I continued on up to where the pavement ends and the dirt begins. I trekked up the dirt for a half mile or so until I ran into some horse riders in front of me. I was going to try to make it up to the falls, but no such luck today. So, I snapped a pic of my bike and did an about face. Dropped back out of the mountains and followed along the Devil's Gate debris basin unti I crossed the road and got back onto the route that goes to and from the Rose Bowl from my area. Pedaled home and had a great ride. Short, but great! First time on dirt with the Specialized Sawtooth tires set up tubeless and they were excellent. Running 45 PSI F/R.

21.63 miles
1560' gain

Yes, momentarily.

The service road number had fallen off the post so I balanced it on my bike for the picture. It would be cool if I sent that to the Forest Service and they used it online. Or, they could send Federal Authorities to arrest me for vandalism. Perhaps I wont share the pic with them, after all.
