Please post up your own pictures from night riding. It's sometimes hard to take great pictures at night but it's nice to see those night shots.

Here's a couple to try start this thread off.

Great pics! I'm far enough west in the time zone that it doesn't get dark here until around 8:30 right now. I need to go out and at least get some pavement time with my lights.

Hutch, you should over this thread over to "pics and ride reports" specifically titled for night rides only.

Hutch, always cool shots when you post. Do you just use your phone for pictures or do you take a point and shoot along?

Thanks. I just use my phone, usually cover in sweat or dirt or a mix of both.

In fact any picture I've ever posted here or on empty beer have always been cell phone pictures.

thats a wicked turn in that skinny bridge, one that would be sure to lose me. cool pics though.

kinda bummed that the rain has been back in force this evening. i thought i would still be pretty sore from yesterdays ride, but felt good enough to do a lap in the park close to home...so i was gonna put the light on and do a darktime lap, but the rain has been incessant. and that trail is a greasy mess when its wet, and now everything is going to be crap for days...

Had to cut mine sort due to horrible trails myself. The low spots are complete mud, the corners are all washed out and need to be groomed to remove all the sugar sand. The rains we've had up here also brought down three trees across the trail; nearly went over the bars on a sweeping downhill part due to one right across the trail. As for that bridge, there is a roller in the middle and about a foot of nasty water on either side *prob HIV infected city water* you really don't want to crash there. Feathering the brakes is a must to keep speed up. When your trails dry up, get in some night rides and post some pictures. For me it helps my day time riding for some reason...

Great pics Hutch. Didn't even realize this thread was here, figured it was all "which light"/"how to mount" stuff. My riding group was supposed to do a nite ride for Halloween, so I bought a light and nothing happened. Guess I should put some fresh batteries in it and give it a go. Do you ever shoot video during night rides?

I've only shot one video with my phone that's worthy and even that came out okay. Normally most videos become tunnel vision unless you have lighting on the side of the trail or major amounts of lighting/trail depending. I turned mine down in this video due to it reflecting the camera and bumped up the shadows but even then it still came out like crap IMO. Tried to match up the music with stuff, it's hard to make out but there is a jump at the 52 second mark.

This was just before sunrise.

It was very humid out so some of them are out of focus. Well, all of them....

The start of the bridges in the lower section. It's flooded on the ground about a foot in a half deep with who knows what lurking in it.

Image

First one had to be dimmed to show the roots. Even that wasn't enough.

Image

Second is the same picture above but dimmed even more to show how wet, muddy it really is and the roots are more apparent.

Image

It was very eerie back there tonight. Lots of movement all around me from animals, heard some talking out of no where as well. Don't like it when its like that back there. Had that feeling something was watching me the whole time. Not to mention there is a cemetery less than a football field away with only a street dividing some of the trail. It gets a little creepy at night there especially by yourself....

i actually did ride with the light a few nights ago, in the ridiculous heat, but it was dusk. only had the light to help see in the darker stretches under the heavy canopy. theres some question now as to the legality of riding the local trail at night; the story is going around that youll be ticketed if you are riding 1/2 hour after sunset... but the park website states that the park is open til 11.

very soon i will be testing the waters, since my local club- who was instrumental in getting the trail built, and has a member who is 2nd in command with the park's trail services division- cant seem to get a straight answer, nor give us one.
