It hit 112 here today and although it is/was nasty, I'd say it's ever so slightly not as bad as yesterday. HOWEVER,...there is yet another fire up in the Natl Forest now and the smoke and ashes are turning our skies orange and ugly. 2020 has been the year of hell. Stay safe fellas.

It's 9:48 am here and the smoke is so bad that it's actually night time here. The sun is completely blocked right now.

I finally got a new local friend to ride Cherry with me. I told him to bring his SS because Cherry is an excellent system for a seasoned SSer. Took him on the full tour. He loved it! 8-)

We have joined the N55 group and become enveloped in smoke down here as well. Complete misery.

I hope it's smoke free by then.

California, Colorado and now Oregon is burning. Some people perished in the Oregon fires. Sad times we are living in.

Backbone trail group ride tomorrow. Less smoke out by the beach according to friends who live out that way so that's where we are headed. Gonna do 20 or 30 miles depending on how the group is feeling when we reach the 20 mile turn around point.

Well, I did a bad thing today. I did not mean to, but I was cruel to my lungs. :(

We ended up doing the long route on the Backbone today. I've done it once before and it about killed me back then. Today was a repeat except that what about killed me this time was SMOKE. About 1/3 of the way into the ride, we crested a ridge and the strong smell of smoke filled out noses. But we were on a DH section so we carried on. Bad idea. From that point and on to the turn around point and back was a smoky mess. So 2/3 of the ride was under hazardous conditions and my lungs are screaming at me now. Sucked the life right out of me and all of us paid the price by pushing our bikes up hills that we can usually climb.

29.17 miles
4390' gain

OUCH

Another full Cherry/Ridge Motorway/GSC tour today with my bud Steve. Legs felt good but once again, I was a total lunger, gasping the entire ride. Freakin' smoke.
