Yes the Hawthorne is a solid deal and I’m in that area this week after other game. That’s how I came across it

Although many OG parts are missing this bike below is likely the closest I will ever get to the bike my then 7 year old wife to be was riding when we became pals.

Extremely rare Iverson Sprinter in the very color hers was. Wheels, seat and pedals are not original but I happen to have a girls model road runner to transfer parts from and they are exactly what it should have except the solo seat. It will have a flowered banana for now

Cute story!
That's a rather interesting bar/fork design. Wonder how many it made eat through a straw back in the day?

I'd have a very hard time passing Hawthorne, if I happened to be in the area anyway.......

If I was smart I would too. The Iverson is rare like the Alenax. Not many out there because nobody wanted them then. Not many want them now either. Not a sound investment.
Silly me I have to have both

I took a cold bike (the Biltmore) out of the AC basement and into tropical humidity a few weeks back and the bike fogged over pretty good as they always do. No big deal just ride it off. First tug on the brakes the front drum locked HARD rotating the entire backing plate and tearing up the hub. Was a real fucker to get off. Found the shoes had cracked in several places. Very difficult hub to find and it was junk

On the treasure trip this week the wife and I visited another collector that had some things I wanted and before we even opened the door on his amazing bike cave garage I saw a crappy old wheel sitting on the ground near the door with the exact hub I needed. Damn!

I’m most pleased with the haul. The bar set with red tape is a custom made piece that mocks Rollfast Top Drag bars. Wildest bars in muscle

I’ve already gushed about the Iverson parts. Super pleased to have that catch scratched from the list

Lifted a pic from his collection here https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/some- ... ff.105701/

Might even be the exact bars I have now. He replaced them with true Rollfast bars.

Gotta be funny to ride like that. As I thought, the grips are leaning forward. That's what I didn't understand.
In my mind, the grips must be level at least, for a bike of this type?

I think that happens with all of these bikes when in the hands of grown adults. Children or short people on a long frame bike they would be level or pointed down.

Personally I detest the grips pointed up style but seem to be in the minority being both short and childish. See an awful lot of banana bikes that look like this

I had an Iverson in that green color named "High Speed", but different bend to the bars. I think Mini posted a pic on here after I mentioned it before but I didn't find it since I didn't want to go through all the pages again.
Bars broke a few times, luckily I was never more than scratched up after.

These were department store bikes in a fearless time. Fuck the major car MFG in the world was putting cables around motor mounts and it was acceptable

That's one sweet looking ride.
It could be good fun to swing a leg over it.

That bike is the one that taught me the beauty of a black rim to make the tire look bigger. It’s a 10 year old build so carbon wasn’t an option or I’m sure he would have picked up on it. Tire on it is from like a 2CV or such. Real uncommon

Black rim = huge badass looking rear wheel. I’m an imitator and a believer
