Truth be told, even the kids I had along for bike trials training, did not feel like getting out of the car for a closer look :D

I experienced hail at least that heavy this past Summer in Big Bear. The pieces were not huge, about the size of a marble but it was deafening sitting in my car waiting for it to end. I couldn't even converse with my friend who was sitting next to me unless we were almost yelling, lol!

I live in what is ranked the number one hail area in the country. Not something to brag about or take lightly.

Check this out. A few years ago I was way up in the mountains and a phenomenon I’ve never experienced before happened. It’s called popcorn snow. There is no moisture in this snow. I touch it and squeeze it and it would pop and makes noise like popcorn but zero moisture. So weird I videoed it. This 3” came down in 15 minutes and was done. I looked it up later on and found it’s a very rare thing and only happens at high altitude.

We ended up with 4 or 5 spectacular lightning bolts in view of our West facing windows.

Hail in this area makes the fruit farmers go bat poo. Tree/vine damage and apple acne

BIG BOY ride today in the San Gabes! Climbed all the way to the Mt Wilson towers where we enjoyed the views and gobbled down awesome hot dogs at the Cosmic Cafe. From there, we dropped down the backside and did the Gabrielino Trail from Red Box to JPL. 33+ miles, 5200'. I'm totally spent... :D

A little blue sky for Mini...

Got my long time fat pal out for a spin last night. Still on the paths while this covid hell lingers. Once again it looks like things will calm down a little. Let’s hope this is the last bump in the charts

Also learned that Fatback is now Corvus or some such nonsense. I don’t get it

Grandpa's old axe for real and thanks

Only OG parts are the seat, seat post clamp and headset. Even the frame has been altered

I took a little break from trail riding yesterday. I hit the fire roads of the San Raphael Hills and Verdugo Mountain instead.

Pic #1: A stop at Starbucks in the morning before a ride (or after) is always nice
Pic #2: Taking a breather at GSC with Mt Lukens (San Gabes) in the background
Pic #3: Looking down on the Crescenta Valley (from Verdugo Mtn) with the San Gabes in the background
Pic #4 The San Raphael Hills (Cherry Canyon/GSC) looking insignificant from Verdugo Mountain

And lastly, blue sky for Mini!

You bring a bike lock to get coffee or bring the bike in while placing the order?

No lock. Rule number one when you are off your bike in public is to never let it leave your sight, locked or not. Rule number two if it is a geared bike, drop it into granny so that a thief cannot hammer away from the scene. I also lay my gloves over the GPS device to keep it out of sight. The last rule, be ready to fight!

I’m anti social so I only make emergency stops but my bike is my emotional support object so it goes where I go

I’d say that I am more socially retarted, but definitely not a social butterfly. I can mix into the general public and never say a word to anyone around me.

Or, is it that I just don’t like people?
