I've ridden all of the AZT that is above 6-7000 ft elevation. Mostly conifer forest, and also mostly pretty buff ST. Really does not look like what I think of as AZ.
The stretch from Lake Mary to Payson is particularly nice. I actually got used to them 700 lb. giant antlered deer up there. Of course, the thought of the mountain lions that an singlehandedly take down one of them kept me pretty alert. You can bet I had my MLK on my belt up there!

That whole stretch of AZT was pretty doable for me pulling the BOB Yak.
