I've been ill for several days and I am still feeling the residuals but I forced myself out the door this morning and I had a great ride.

Backbone trail, Encinal canyon to Mishe Mokwa and back. Lots of wildflowers, butterflies, and one snake!

Had that happen last week. Deleted some old attachments and was able to finish my post. Seemed pretty strange

Hawg, I'm dying right now with this head, sinus and flu.

Don't forget Shibi changed servers in April, not sure if that has anything to do with uploading images.

Anybody hear about this?

One of our own tragically taken out.

Two Mountain Bikers attacked by a Mountain Lyon and one is killed.

This link has a video with an explanation of the attack. Sounds like they were attacked twice and the one man ran. The cat chased and killed him. The other managed to ride off for help. Very tragic, they say to hold your ground and use your bike as a shield. Never run from a cat, it triggers a predatory response.

R.I.P. brother.

The explanation of the attack starts at 2:10 of the video.

Weekday group rides rule because you generally have the trails to yourself.

I met a few guys up in Big bear today to do a Skyline Trail loop. The elevation of the area is 6700' +/- so climbing sucks the life out of you.

We ended up with 22+ miles and 2600'+ elevation gain. Great ride, great guys, great weather. And, I am exhausted!

Skyline loop Relive. This is a BIG ride. Add to the moving time shown a solid hour for necessary breaks to keep your heart from exploding.

Spring–A-Blooming.
I managed a great ride in this morning before thunderstorms and hail later in the day. Ride temps were a perfect 68 degrees. :)

Got to the bike park and realized I’d forgotten my cell

Couldn’t take pics, couldn’t check messages or email. Couldn’t even check to see what time it was

I’m gonna have to do that again!

A family reunion in my hood. Seems to be an annual even in recent years. A great day out with my older brother from SoCal. My younger sister and her husband from right down the street. Our 5 days together unfortunately we only had one ride together. Too busy with other priorities. My 88 year old dad recently had a hip replacement. More time spending visiting him in a rehabilitation facility than anything. Although we did manage plenty of good BBQ’s and drinking behind the scenes. Back to work tomorrow after an 8 day vacation.

Yep, my sister and brother in-law are on new Borealis Carbon fat bikes running plus tires and rims. They switch between 27.5 and 29” wheels depending on their mood. Fast freaking bikes, plus both are in tip top shape. So basically I rode with my brother that day. ;)

Road Hood Mountain today, an area that was heavily impacted from the fires last October. Lots of wildflowers in bloom right now along with all the fire scar trees.
Looking west towards the ocean. The furthest ridgeline is where my place is.

There is a micro clime with serpentine rock where manzanita and sergeant cypress grow. We call it a banana belt where you can grow oranges. Manzanita is this harsh plant, but when it blooms has these delicate flowers.

Just once I’d like to be able to post a blue sky vista like you left coasters. Seems it’s always near a solid color here. White, brown or green

Nice pics mr Norton
