Give one a try if you get the chance. It's exactly the same as a carbon bar. As for thermal conductivity, titanium is closer to carbon than to steel as I recall off the top of my head, and far from aluminum.
That's how you can tell if something in fact is what it claims to be. If it's just aluminum anodized ti color, it feels cold to the touch, but if it's titanium, it feels much like carbon.

I like carbon bars as well. They're strong (if not made stupid light), and they look great!
That's why I made mine in the first place. That was back when stey still failed left and right. The first one I made like 15 years ago, and to my knowledge it's still seeing daily use.
I believe I've introduced you to Drew Diller. He's an old friend of mine. I helped him get a carbon bar production up running, hence all the bizarre knowledge about carbon bars :D

I'm sorry to say that this does not surprise me one bit. Quality suffers when you send it to China or like countries for manufacturing just to save a few bucks for a company. :angry-screaming:

The scary part?

Quality of carbon from China is often better than what we see made in the USA.
Enve for example, looks pretty poor compared to the Chinese stuff.

The only reason I can think of, that makes Enve survive, is the huge marketing budget.

A fairly well informed chap:

His findings are similar to mine.

Are you counting me in that tally? If so, we are very close to proving Himmler's assertion that, "If you tell a lie long enough, it becomes the truth". 8-)

But, Easton rocks it, after all they are the pioneers of carbon bars. You hear all these horror stories of carbon bars failing. I have a hard time with that having a set of Easton Monkey Lite carbon bars that have been in service for 19 years. Seriously! I’m no lightweight either. Most often weighting 210 but up to 220lbs and riding hard tech. I’ve come to the conclusion that it has a lot to do with riding technique. Having grown up riding MX since age 8, I learned early on to ride loose and let your body absorb as much of the impact, small chatter or large drops as much as possible. Riding light and letting your body work with the machine beneath you. I’m pretty sure most carbon bar failures are from guys who death grip the bars with a tensed up form and letting the bike take the entire hit of every bump, rock or drop.

Sti, we need to start a new discussion on safety, immediately. I see no less than two sets of Bigfoot eyes looking back at you when you snapped that picture!

Be careful out there!!!!

Norton, I too am a big fan of Easton bars. I got couple of their EA70 alum. bars and 3 of their cf bars.

I like them all.
Oh, and I saw the eyes in the pic. I think maybe 3 pairs! I find that a lotta times you CAN'T see such things until AFTER the Safety Meeting .
Safety First! Always!

I’m glad the carbon bar vibration absorbtion debate is over. I woke up in the middle of the night in the corner of my room in the fetal position sucking my thumb and shaking in a cold sweat.

So tonight, it was too cold even for the Bigfoot to be out?

Sti, we are worried about you. Can we get that safety talk started now?

I got a couple of bars look just like that, DJ! Although one of 'em is retired. It's getting close to 15 in dog-years. That's 10 in bar-years!

Then again Dogbar years is entirely different. The bar I posted has been in use for 19 years. I have a brand new in the box bar from Easton that is several years old, In waiting for these to fail. Now the whole wide bar phenomenon has hit they will probably never get installed.
