Post links to or embed the video(s) to either motivate you to ride or videos you made yourself to share with us here. 8-)

Myself on a cold, wet winter day before the snow. It's from a cell phone so the quality isn't the best.

Since it's winter *here at least  * and this is fairly new I'll share this as well.

I'll have some later. I took a bit of video using an Optrix XD iPhone case today and I need to upload it somewhere tonight.

Planning on writing up an 'unboxing' and review soon.

that looks pretty cool marp. i have a samsung galaxy s3 and i havent found a case similar to that, yet. im on the fence about getting a gopro right now, really close to grabbing one but i cant decide if its worth getting the hero3 black, or just get the silver and call it good.

After much thought, I decided something like this (rather than a dedicated camera) was the best choice for my situation. I don't take video very often and I always take my phone along. I keep the case configured a little differently most of the time (so I can see the phone screen); but, I'm able to quickly re-position it if I want to take a quick video. With my iphone 4 it's a bit shaky (iPhone 4S has video stabilization, 4 doesn't). The downer so far is it's picking up a lot of noise from the bike. You can hear my chain tensioner (I'm on my SS) and you can hear the brakes (sound like a long sigh). Maybe adding a strip of rubber between the handlebar and mount would help.

Actually, looking at it again, the quality isn't what it was the other day. I ran the video through Picasa (to shorten it) and it looks like it's not HD any more (even in HD mode). I'm going to delete an re-upload the original.

Fixed it:

rooty much? looks familiar! see if you can hack into the speed display and maybe show 1.5 or 2x the number it's showing now. :) the video looks pretty decent, and you don't have to fiddle with a separate camera. sounds like a good fit.

So far I've only checked out Marpilli's video, but I'll get to the rest of them in a bit ;) I like that data overlay! BTW, I'm your latest subscriber.

Here's Sunday's ride.

Steep climb with plenty of bumpy trail due to horse damage. This only adds to the heavy breathing, btw ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g26fcyH1Sns

Some random footage from the rest of the ride.

0:00-0:12 meeting EB member redmr2_man shortly after entering the SFART trail
0:13-0:30 frog sounds, peering into the creek to see if I can spot any of them
0:44-0:56 hiker with 4 dogs approaches, I pet one
1:00-2:38 tricky creek crossing on foot, belch, start of climb out of creek, first switchback
2:39-2:53 scenic singletrack descent
2:53-3:25 yielding to friendly equestrians on same descent
3:33-3:48 abandoned houses
3:49-4:25 yielding to equestrians who ask "Why the camera?". I say that I always record my rides, and mention the trail etiquette video I'm making.

Thank you! I subscribed to your YouTube feed, also. ;)

I have a question about data overlay. I seem to remember you tried out overlay services from a couple of different applications. Were there any you particularly liked?

The VideoPro software can export the GPS data in Text (.csv), VideoPro (.hlptrl), or Google Earth (.kml).

If I get out today, I'll take some video using a different app (Vidometer) that has a slightly different overlay (and no GPS data export). And, I'll be riding my 1x10 so the hills won't kick my ass like they did on the SS (I hope). :D

Thank you. The one thing I don't like about the VideoPro app is it doesn't show the altitude. The Vidometer app does, though. That's why I was curious about data overlay services. Ideally, I'd like to have: speed, altitude, and track (route) overlay.

The Vidometer app also has a 'gimbal' which is kind of neat. http://www.hitcase.com/vidometer

OK, the Vidometer app sucks... There's no focus-lock so you see the camera auto-focusing throughout the video. The speed and altitude displays are incorrect. And, my videos are upside down. Yes, I have to figure out how to flip them. Won't be using that app in the future...

Second snippet of today's ride. Big climb at the beginning and I conquer the rooty patch at the end.

The video where I eat dirt is still uploading. I'll probably post a link to it tomorrow.

Lots of rocky trail, followed by open field XC, followed by me trying to catch a little air off of a root, then clipping a tree and going down. :D

Nice vid marp! That trail looks fun with the chunky and fast sections. I liked how fast you got off the deck after the crash  and the laugh was great too

2ride, thank you. The rocky section is in the middle of a large field. In the summer you have to ride 5-8 minutes in full sun to get to it and 4-6 minutes to get back to the woods. They make you suffer to enjoy the best feature on this course. ;)

I can come out of my clipless pedals without even thinking about it anymore. I couldn't help but laugh because I can navigate most everything out there and catch air on some decent size roots. And, here I am making a video and I loose it and clip my handlebar on the tiniest of trees. I thought I could save it but I was too far over and had to ditch.

Sti, last week I went OTB twice (once was a slo-mo when I hung up in some roots). I really wish I had the camera going as I'd like to see what it looked like. :)

Nice crash Marp. That terrain looks b-u-m-p-y...

Here's something from last week.

<iframe width="960" height="540" src="http://contour.com/stories/trail-riding-2-3-2013/embed?map=false&width=960px&height=540px" frameborder="0"></iframe>

OK, not sure what happened.

Is there a specific trick to embedding here?

We have to create the BBCode for the embedding. Let me see what I can do real quick.

Use [youtube]..[/youtube] and insert a direct link to the video there. Do not use Youtube's embed text.

Sorry about editing your post (not even sure if you noticed it). The edit button is right next to the quote button and I keep hitting the wrong one.

Anyway... We have to create the BBCode for the embedding.

Or, I would suggest stop using the contour site. It is crappy, upload takes ages to complete, processing even longer and the final quality is much worse than of youtube 720p videos. At least that has been my experience comparing contour and youtube sites with my new Roam.

Marpilli: I hit the edit button all the time, too. ;)

Sti, if someone can fetch the edit button image for me I'll make it a different shade so my poor eyes can see the difference. ;)

Try this:
Code:
[contour]http://contour.com/videos/watch/{Contour_Video_ID}[/contour]

All you should have to put in is the actual URL of the contour video.

How-to: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=110
