I'm out of town otherwise I would. I need to get motivated and ride some more.

Sounds like a great idea. Either/or? Paul?

Ok, either day is fine for me. I'm gonna ride both days probably.

I say tenatively 12/31.
Long range forecast says an overnight low of 25 and high of 52, so I vote for a post-lunch ride time.
Thoughts?

Realized I'm on call next week. Means I'm gonna have to stick close to home for my rides. Have fun!

Had a good ride with SSLikeSnake and Sean today at horseshoe. They helped push me when I wanted to slow down and catch my breath. Much needed when you're out of shape like me. Now I am motivated to start this year off right and hopefully jump right into some races.

The sister-in-law has a boyfriend who owns a MTB but hasn't ridden it in two years. I talked him into meeting me today at high noon for a ride at a nearby trail. He was all smiles. :)

Yeah, it was a fun ride. Shawn has some quickness, definitely. That trail is just so fun to rail the corners with the flow. Good ride, great company, what a great way to end the year!

And Marps, way to get someone else hooked!!

Hey Texas, anyone in San Antonio on 5/5-5/6? I am visiting town for the RackSpace PartnerPalooza 2. No riding for me this time, but having a beer or two with a fellow kitty would be nice.

Alas, I will not be near San Antonio. You need to attend some conferences in Dallas. ;)

Yeah, I know the distances are non-trivial. I had the pleasure of driving from Dallas to Houston once. No problemo gents, I would not drive to NYC just to meet someone either. :)

I actually will be close to there on May 16th. I'll have a beer on your behalf. :D

Mid-May adventure!

I signed up to ride the Real Ale Ride (realaleride.com) in Blanco, TX on May 17th with a couple of non-MTB’ers.

To make the most of the opportunity, I’m bringing my MTB to ride somewhere on the way down and somewhere on the way back. To top it all off, I’ll be meeting a couple of riders from that other site. :)

My current plan:

Friday, May 16th: On the way down to Blanco, stop in Waco to meet monogod and ride Cameron Park.

Saturday, May 17th: Participate in the 30 mile route of the Real Ale Ride

Sunday, May 18th: On the way back, stop in Harker Heights to meet ArmySlowRdr and ride Dana Peak.

I’m super excited about this trip. To help me prepare, I’m only riding my Funky Commuter at lunch (on the routes I normally ride the road bike) and I’ll try to commute in at least once a week (~32mi round trip). That way I’ll be riding my much lighter MTB and Roadie on the trip and hope my legs last through the weekend. :D

Yeah, that incident hit home with a lot of us down here. I didn't know Wes but I will think about him every time I ride that trail.

Yeah, that story happened on the trail we took you on, Joe. It's shaken the MTB community quite a bit around here. He was found dead in a ravine. Details are still not quite defined. I'm thinking the true story has yet to come out.

Yeah, that's messed up. I've read a bunch of stuff, still amazing to think you could wind up that way, in that place. Very sad for everyone.

Planning another AR bikepacking trip this fall. Wanting to do the Upper Buffalo MTB trail and possibly others. Plan in 4-5 days away from Dallas with 3 days of riding 2 camping. Anyone interested?

Possibly a canoe day as well if the weather permits since the buffalo River is freaking AMAZING! Seriously though it is awesome.

Depends when, an outside possibility. That sounds like a blast, new Upper Buffalo trail with a canoe day, but it'll be tough to get that much time off work in the fall.

Let me know when the dates get a little more firm.

Always interested. That family thing keeps getting in the way, though. ;)

Like SSLS said, let me know when the dates firm up and I'll check with my schedule keeper. :D

honestly guys I have very little obligations and can go whenever. I like late sept and oct for camping since weather is very tolerable for sleeping outside. Plus most of my staff is not taking vacation so they can save for christmas and thanskgiving. Maybe Oct 2-6 if you need something to ask for. My wife basically doesn't want me to go by myself since its a new area and I havent been there. It gives me an excuse to buy a GPS though. ; )

Yeah, I can't take that many days off in the fall, sorry, guys. The only time I have that much time off in bearable temps is the week of Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

Let's do a Spring Break Trip, I say.
