As watches seems to have the interest of at least two members.

I build and develop watches, Sti is also a watch snob.
Who else here have those tendencies?

An appetizer from my next build, and a pic from the latest development project.

Magura :)

In my line of work I destroy watches, however my son is an avid watch collector.

I'll keep them coming, as I get news to show, but don't hold back.
Loads of you guys have watches as well.
Note the topic, it says "watch nut", not "watch snob".

Truth be told, currently I have to be a bit careful what I'm posting, as the owners of Preciflex are trying to steal my latest hydraulic escapement patent from me. Those are the same muppets behind HYT, so if in the market for an upmarket watch, stay clear of that brand, or anything related, if you'd do me (and yourself) a favor.
I'll post things as it gets possible in that regard.

Magura :)

Where’s that rep button and yes same here. Always liked watches and could see how collecting could become addictive.

I finished two watches, within the last couple of days.

No, they have nothing to do with Laco, counting out the straps, which is the only part I'm not really happy with.
They are both based on a scaled down version of the navigation watch, that was ordered by RLM ( the German ministry of aviation).
Laco fulfilled some of those orders, back in the day, but that's it. They have no more claim to the design, than anyone else. In fact the design was done for RLM by Wempe.
I find it's a good, no non-sense design, and it's fairly versatile.
The movements are a special version of the 6497, made by Unitas.

The black watch was a present to the Mrs.
It's PVD and DLC coated.
The gray one I made for myself.
It's PVD Luftwaffe gray case, and rose gold movement.
Both are made with sapphire crystals, as glass just doesn't seem to like my lifestyle.
The straps I bought from Laco, but that needs to be fixed, as they leave a lot to be wished for, in regards to finish (sharp edges everywhere).

The 3 rhodium movements are for future projects.

Magura :)

Oh wow, that's very nice! I see that you've saved yourself some efforts on the watch face for you lady's piece. What does the engraving say on the side of the case in the last picture? Loving the shape of the crowns.

Well, she can't have everything!

The engraving on the side, is the RLM part number.

Watches are actually fairly simple, at least the plain variety, that just has 3 hands and tells time.

https://chronicles.ermitagejewelers.com ... components

You've got like 5 wheels, give or take. Not really rocket science.
Once you begin pushing the limits, it gets real complicated, but even then, the system is fairly simple.
