Just heard the Wee Purple One has gone to the Great Big Gig in the Sky too...
I have worked with him since Purple Rain, and altho a contrary little dude sometimes, he was a true genius and legendary player. He truly touched the spheres with his music. I am tremendously sad he has gone.

I'm shocked also. My Daughter saw him in Oakland a few weeks ago, said his show was amazing.

This is really bad news. I may not have liked all his music but there was a lot I did like. He's a real pioneer, no denying that. I have several friends who have seen him live over the years and they all concur with norton's daughter - always a great show.

RIP Prince.

pleased to say I'd seen him perform way back in the purple rain days. Was quite a twist for me given the other music I was into then.

The world is a little worse place now. I never listened to his music but he was a genius.

I am a bad person. The first thought i had when I found out he was dead was

"The Artist Formerly Known as Alive"

Humor is always a good thing... I saw a spoof post on F'bok with a picture of Anderson Cooper talking over a picture of Kanye with the caption "Sad day for the music industry! Rapper Kanye Wes found ALIVE at his home!" Prince would have chuckled at that.

A great talent lost. He really pushed sexual conduct on stage and in my opinion he was the male version of Madonna. Surprisingly he really ripped on guitar.

Eric Clapton was once asked what it was like to be the best guitar player in the world and he replied "I don't know, ask Prince". Having watched the wee one play many times in many different settings, I can vouch for that sentiment. Not only that but he was a virtuoso on pretty much anything. During rehearsals he would often jump onto someone else's instrument and show them what he was looking for in a phrase or entire song. truly amazing. When I woke up this morning I had a weird feeling that something was missing in the world, and then I remembered what it was. I felt pretty downhearted.

Tom Petty died back in October. Today’s another sad day learning how he died.
