It's been with ripe bananas and it just won't turn! Normally I never have problems with green naners ripening up in a day or two but this is just plain ridiculous.
I just checked it and its still as green as an Orion woman and hard as a rock.

Whoa!!!!!!!

I was told putting it in a brown paper lunch bag will get it to ripen. This could be an episode of Mythbusters once we get a few more ways to make a banana ripen.

You're right about this. The ripe bananas give off ethylene gas, which causes green fruit to ripen. This happens all the time to my banana stash in my desk at work.
I'm going to put my weird banana in a bag with a ripe one and see what happens. I fear this banana ain't going to ripen though!

Although Maguras reply was gold, I think Norton nailed the banana on the head with this first banana response.

I can't believe I missed the whole banana fiasco. BTW Mook is it ripe yet? Speaking of bananas, I recently learned something, I say recently because I'm 55 and it took me 54 years to learn this. My 21 year old niece who was 20 years old when she enlightened me on this.

Most people as did I, peel a banana from the stem first. 54 years of doing this I've ruined countless banana tips due to the skin not breaking on the first try. The banana gets crushed on the end, right? My niece saw me doing it one day and corrected me pronto. Peel it from the opposite end and it peels flawlessly every time. Guess how humans finally learned this trick? The chimpanzees do it this way which we finally caught on to.

Hell, its possible that I have a green banana. Although it was among yellow ones when I bought it. Its still green as ever though, no signs of turning. I'm going to stuff it in a bag with a ripe banana tomorrow. That SOB is going to be yellow if it kills me.

I've been peeling bananas the ape way for years now. Its a lot easier to peel without turning them to mush that way. I guess the monkeys and apes know bananas. :D :banana-linedance:
