I’ve been sick, still am, so no riding for me. I did go for a drive yesterday up to 12,000FT. Elevation. Amazing up there right now. Drove up Old Fall River Road, which is a dirt road one way up, 11 miles. Once to the top you return via a paved Trail Ridge Road. Trail River Road is the highest paved road in Colorado. Old Fall Ridge Road is a narrow dirt road directional one way up, only wide enough for one vehicle. Considered one of the most dangerous roads in America. Most spots are 200’ to 400’ exposure without any guardrails and many switchback made for a on your toes challenging drive. Pretty sketchy road and it being dirt it’s almost 4 wheel drive only. No snow yet and an amazing day pushing 60°. Both of these roads will be closed due to snow pack a month from now.

https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-am ... d-usa.html

Here’s my favorite shot I took. I had to minimize this shot by 75% for it to post, which really diminished its quality.

Monday Mauraders trail ride!

Strawberry Peak Loop, a local favorite. Showed my bud through there for his first pass. He dug it. Trail conditions were good, temps were good, empty trails, lots of bear prints and bear poop, but no bears.

15.14 miles
2671' gain

Nice shots. You are like a mountain bike guide for that trail it would seem.

Yes, Norton nailed it, DJ. Total beauty up there in those conditions.

Hardtail hammerfest with a couple of friends this morning on the Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains. Perfect temps, nice views of the Pacific, great company. We owned the trail for the first half of the ride. Started seeing other users on the way back. Bunch of slackers... ;)

DJ! You got some kinda shit with your lungs! You need a chest x-ray, and bloodwork.
Speaking of which, I gotta get my flu and whatnot shot this week. It's that time.....

Thanks for the advice. I may take you up on that if it doesn’t get better soon. Just when I think it’s getting better it comes back on me.

I remember, it was the same thing last year, and the year before. Maybe it's just time to switch to filter tips. 9 out of 10 doctors recommend them ( in 1945).

Speaking of health, I ain't dead yet!

So, because I get this shit every year at this time I should get a lung check? It’s just the annual crap that hits every year at this time. It just happens to lingers longer with me. :o

Good to hear you’re hanging in there. Are you getting chemo?

Yes. And the hombres respect you more, too!

Rocker, I have good news on the health front. After all those tests and such, they were wrong. I'm cancer-free. Woo Hoo!

So, no chemo for me, DJ. But it was a close one. I still need one more procedure. A "cryoablation " of my Barret's esophagus deformity. It's Barret's that is a major factor in developing esophageal cancer. Any of you guys ever get the symptoms and they find Barret's it's best to do something about it ASAP.

That is outstanding news Ray! Get strong and let's do a ride.

I do have GERD and I was scoped a little over a year ago. I was told that there was no irritation, suspicious looking areas, or scar tissue. I have lost some weight in recent months and the burning went away but in recent weeks, I have been eating those acid causing foods again and the minor burn has returned. No attacks and not anything that would require an acid reducer med.

Thanks, guys. I'm pretty stoked myself. Just one, possibly 2 more procedures....the cryoablations that I described before.
Mr. H. , As long as your endoscopist doesn't see the potential for your GERD to worsen to to a Barret's formation, you should be good to go.
I don't think either one of us is ever going to be able to just eat as much of whatever we might fancy again in this lifetime, but that's just a natural feature of living a mindful life. Could be a LOT worse!

Thanks, MT. The numbers who undergo mean-ass chemo and everything like that based on a false diagnosis......I'm hoping they are low, but at least one of the docs on my oncology "team" wanted me to already be on chemo, hair dropping, puking my guts out, etc. And I like that guy.
You just gotta stick to yer guns with this kinda stuff.

Lost my father in-law to C in a round about way. He’d been all through chemo then caught pneumonia at the tail end.
I’m anti medicine as hell. Stories like his and yours bolster it. I’ll die before I go see a doc.

MT, I've been a Board Certified, Licensed Acupuncturist for 32 years now. The number of people I've met who expect me to be down on "Western Medicine" Is huge. But I'm just down on sloppily handles medicine, period. I don't care where it comes from. And I gotta say.....I see it MORE in my neck of the healing woods than in mainstream medicine. Regular, corporate-driven medicine can be the best, especially when it's practiced in an "integrative" way. I got no complaints about the oncologists I ended up with ...they're "Integrative" in their approach to practice, too. I definitely got some "vibes" from my own colleagues for not immersing myself in a holistic ideologically "correct" way. This just tells me that they have their limitations, and I better not associate with them professionally.
I didn't means to drive you away from all medicine, and I hope nobody else got that, either. Live life with eyes wide open is my approach.

I just hope that you or anybody else on HK ever has to deal with this, but the odds are, some of us will.

Thanks, W. Yeah, the prospect of 90 days of suffering and progressive weakness don't sit well with me. I would rather pedal my bike on one last ride, where there's a nice high drop, and, you know....

There’s too much of it around to ignore. Some of modern med is supreme being stuff but much of it proves to be crap.
It’s like the lottery. Someone can win big. The rest are losers. I do not play lottery’s because I don’t want to be in the mass of losers

Switch to happy thoughts. Like large breasted ladies laughing happy thoughts
