That was a good writeup, he's obviously a huge talent. I remember seeing Endless Summer on TV quite a few years ago and thought it looked like a great lifestyle. As a nonsurfer I've always really liked surf movies.

Mookie, riding and surfing have a lot in common. As my friend says "the mountain always breaks". :P

John McCain has passed. Not to get political, but I just wanted to acknowledge a true statesman and hero. :(

I hope his family does not allow you-know-who to eulogize him.

WOW, that was fast. They only announced that they were discontinuing treatment about a day or two ago.

Maybe they helped him go. Morphine does that.

Yes, the great one is gone. Grew up with his music. Saw him live once and he was so loud my ears rang for days. R.I.P.

For some strange reason, I was quite surprised to hear of Mick Jaggers heart valve replacement surgery.
Makes all the sense in the world, when I think about it.

Dr. John was much-loved by many, and under-appreciated by many more.
He was unique.

His passing won’t get a blip on the news but I’ll never forget seeing him perform in a small outdoor concert in the late 70s. Guy put everything he had into it. Not much to show for it in sales or memorable albums. Just a good honest performer with a great voice. Happy to have seen him in his prime

Mini, I get it. I've seen so many great musicians that never made it. :(

You’re right. At least he got a taste. I think he just decided doing things his way was better than the alternative and that stopped his ascent

For that matter, how many great writers, painters, sculptors, etc. suffered the same fate? A LOT.
