I admit I did a few laps. Best for grand kids not grands dads. It was sweet though!

I rode twice today. Did a classic Cherry Canyon loop from home this morning before the heat set in, and then returned this evening to show a friend around on the goods up there.

It's nice to see everyone getting rides in. Fall is here up on the North Coast and it's really nice right now. 8-)

Missed this thread for a bit. Getting caught up and past the Iceland jibber jabber made it worth dropping in again. :laughing-rolling:

It’s getting faster and faster as the bikes roll it out. Watched some dude with a man bun tear it up a couple nights back. Made me wish for his skills

Man-bun! So I guess that means no helmet?

On my night ride last night, I stopped on one of the trails I always climb to take in the view. Put my foot down on-air. I rolled down the slope 4 times- 2 off the left shoulder, two off the right. I saw a cholla cactus real close up on roll#2. I realized how much velocity I was gaining. So, on roll#4 I straightened both legs and kicked my heels into the soft slope. I still had enough momentum that I slid, heels dug in, another body length or so. Then I had to climb back up that slippery slope. I found my bike at the top, light on, wheels up, star-gazing. For all that, just 2 little scathes on my arms. My bike was just fine.

Thinking maybe there is something to that "guardian angel" stuff after all.
And just yesterday my teacher, who is 90, told me that maybe I ought to think about about quitting that mountain bike stuff, considering my age, and all.

I did an adventure ride yesterday evening with sum buds. Way up in Angeles Natl Forest. Really nice to be out in the middle of nowhere on stuff that is off the beaten path. Didn't see another soul.

Geez Ray, glad you're ok. I've done that a few times myself. ;)

Do that often in the deep snow but the landings are way softer. Hope your luck doesn’t run out.

And yes to your other comment. The hotshots on the pump track were without helmets.

Thing is, teacher, his name is Herman, had told me on my birthday 2 years ago that I should'nt go riding that day either. I crashed 4 times Los Gatos ravine up on Mt. Laguna.
Maybe I should ask him for some Lotto numbers.

Crashing is a small part of mountain biking. Ya just gotta hope that the crash part ain't too serious when it happens.

Thurs, I didn't crash. I was stopped. I just fell off the bike into thin air.
There's a difference.............

Pretty sure I shared a shot of this feature they worked in on the juicy bacon trail late last fall. Steps and roots at the top had been around a while they just decided to add the trail and steep ramp at the bottom as an alternate route. Old trail continues off to the left above my bike in the picture

Was reminded today that the first falls I took after dislocating my shoulder 5 years ago were on the upper section of this feature. Helped me get my confidence back. Helped me learn to fall protecting that shoulder. Hope it’s a l o n g time before the next injury for all of us. Never again would be nice too.

My bad for applying the wrong term.

Let's call it "unplanned dismount" which includes crashing and falling over. IMO, stepping off into air is basically a slow-mo crash because you temporarily lose control.

That said, I know a guy who knows a guy who died simply when he fell over at a stop because he hit his head on something which severed his brain stem.

So, be careful!!!

It’s like many other features. Not bad with momentum.
That’s what caused my wrecks. I choked
