I've been watching the rain totals down there. You're doing well for the season. Going to be a great wildflower season north and south. 8-)

The orioles that nest nearby have already returned, a full month ahead of schedule. After living here over twenty years, this is the first time these birds have come back so soon......usually they return in the same week year after year. Something's up with Nature. :o

Rain there and sub freezing temps here. Headed to work this morning at -1°F. I was elated on my lunch break walking out to a balmy 17°.

Cool. Yeah, I'm talking late Spring and into Summer. When it starts getting warm down here, I look to the Central Coast for relief. 8-)

This has indeed been an odd Winter.

1) The monarchs have not left So Cal. In fact, we are seeing caterpillars on the milkweeds!!!

2) The hummingbirds have not left. My feeders are swarmed upon daily by Anna's and Allen's. A friend even has a pair of Costas which is really odd.

3) The crows never left. The same flocks that we usually see leaving the area in the Fall seemed to have settled in here for the Winter.

4) The ocean temps are a little warmer than usual for this time of the year.

Must be El Nino?

Tour de Cherry/GSC/Verdugos today, via fire roads. Lots of gravel bikers out. HUGE landslide on the climb up the Verdugos. Nearly 100" of treacherous HB over unstable ground to get past it. Cool out and great views from up top like always. Hero dirt all the way.

Nice...... 8-)

I'm looking out my windows right now, and it's dark and raining. Got a nice fire in the stove though. :)

Can't really say if I like that or am repulsed by it. But today is a weird day. 8-)

The rain damage on Verdugo Mountain is unlike anything I have ever seen there before. This is Hostetter fire road (La Tuna Canyon).

The grey rock in the washed out section on the left side looks to have an interestingly round raised spot on it. Or am I seeing things?
